Holiday Traffic, Construction Alerts for Greater Brandon Motorists

As the Memorial Day weekend gets underway and May draws to an end, news you can use from the Florida Department of Transportation as you plan your daily commutes and evening activities.

No lane or road closures are planned for the Memorial Day weekend  but closures will resume after that to accommodate the three ongoing construction projects of particular interest to Greater Brandon motorists.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, no closures or detours are scheduled for the holiday weekend, from May 27-30, on any interstate roadway in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

Meanwhile, construction alerts for May 31 through June 4 have been issued and, as always, are subject to change. Check online for updates issued by the Florida Department of Transportation. Also online, information about Tampa Bay interstates, at myTBI.com.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 4 / Selmon Expressway Connector Project:

  • One lane might close on the eastbound Selmon Expressway (State Road 618) between Exit 9 (22nd Street) and Exit 11 (50th Street), from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., May 31-June 4. Also, from 8 p.m.-5 a.m., May 31-June 3.
  • Westbound traffic will be directed off the Selmon Expressway between 50th Street and 22nd Street, from 8 p.m.-5 a.m., June 1-2. Traffic will be detoured west on Adamo Drive (State Road 60),  then back onto the Selmon Expressway at the 22nd Street entrance ramp. Tolls at the ramp will be suspended for westbound traffic during the detour hours.
  • One lane might close each way on State Road 60 (Adamo Drive) between 26th and 34th streets from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., May 31-June 4.
  • One lane might close each way on State Road 45 (20th, 21st and 22nd streets) from State Road 60 to Durham Street, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., May 31-June 4. Also, overnight, from 7 p.m.-6 a.m., May 31-June 3.
  • One lane will close in both directions of 34th Street from Adamo Drive (State Road 60) to Grace Street, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., May 31-June 4. Single-lane closures are planned for 7 p.m.-5 a.m., May 31-June 2.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 75 slab repairs from Progress Boulevard to State Road 60

  • The eastbound State Road 60 entrance ramp onto southbound I-75 will be closed 9 p.m.-5 a.m., May 31-June 1. Traffic is directed to continue east on State Road 60, then use the westbound State Road 60 ramp to southbound I-75.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 4 resurfacing from Branch Forbes Road to Memorial Boulevard

 If you're traveling in or through neighboring Plant City:

  • I-4 interchange ramps might be closed for paving between 8 p.m.-6 a.m., May 31-June 4. The affected interchanges could include: Exit 17 (Branch Forbes Road), Exit 19 (Thonotosassa Road and State Road 566), Exit 21 (Alexander Street and State Road39), Exit 22 (Park Road) and Exit 25 (County Line Road). Also possible, lane closures between Exits 17 and 25.
