Becoming one of our “Local Voices” is a quick and easy way to market your news, express your views, chime in on an issue of importance, give a shout-out to a worthy endeavor, highlight an achievement, honor a neighbor, reward an initiative, express a concern, share a tip, question a development, chime in on an unfolding issue.

How you do that is up to you, be it a short piece, a long piece, or the posting of a photograph or video.

Blogging involves writing, yes, but you don’t have to be an accomplished writer. You don’t even have to think of yourself as a writer. Don’t let the perception that blogging is for “writers” scare you away.

And don’t think of blogging as a piece of work that needs to be highly polished or that needs to follow a set list of rules or formats. You can blog a paragraph or two and upload a photograph about something you’ve seen on the way to work or at your child’s school.

• Summarize what was discussed at your homeowners association meeting.

• Extend the online presence of your school, church, troupe, club, network, league, team or political gathering.

• Link back to your Facebook page, to your Web site, to your blog on another site.

• Build your audience or help someone build theirs.

The overarching aim is to build a community of connections that gives voice to Greater Brandon interests and to fulfill our roles as thoughtful and concerned citizens of all ages and walks of life.
