Lanes Closures Ahead For Lakewood Drive As County Begins Resurfacing

The evening lane closures will be between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work begins Wednesday, Aug. 3 and is projected to finish Oct. 19.

Lakewood Drive might be a place to avoid for motorists in the evening for the next couple of months.

The county is planning to resurface the road between Brandon Boulevard and Clay Pit Road.

The road is a popular shortcut for drivers looking to connect to Interstate 4 or Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

County officials are trying to keep the disruption to a minimum by only closing lanes during off-peak hours.

As a result, the evening lane closures will be between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work begins Wednesday, Aug. 3 and is projected to finish Oct. 19.

In addition to resurfacing, crews will be working on shoulder restoration.

“We want to minimize the inconvenience to residents in area that’s why we are working at night,” said Patrick Murray, a spokesman for the Hillsborough County Department of Public Works.
