Looking Ahead: Construction Alerts for Greater Brandon Motorists (Through March 12)

As March approaches, news you can use from the Florida Department of Transportation as you plan your daily commutes and evening activities.

As March advances, the Florida Department of Transportation offers a number of construction alerts for roadways of particular interest to Greater Brandon motorists.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 4 / Selmon Expressway Connector Project:

  • One lane might close on the eastbound Selmon Expressway(State Road 618) between Exit 9 (22nd Street) and 34th Street on March 4 and 7-11 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and March 5 and 7-12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • One lane might close in each direction on State Road 60 (Adamo Drive) between 26th and 34th streets on March 5 and 7-12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • One lane might close in each direction on State Road 45 (20th, 21st and 22d streets) from State Road 60 to Durham Street on March 5 and 7-12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 7-11 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • One lane will close in both directions of 34th Street from State Road 60 (Adamo Drive) to Grace Street on March 7-12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and March 7-11, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 75 Slab Repairs from Progress Boulevard to State Road 60  

  • The northbound I-75 exit to Exit 254 (northbound U.S. Highway 301) will close March 5, at 12:01 a.m., to March 7, at 5 a.m. Traffic will detour to the southbound U.S. 301 ramp, then make a U-turn south of Bloomingdale Avenue to travel north on U.S. 301. There also will be two periods when northbound I-75 access to southbound U.S. 301 will close: March 5 at 9 p.m. to March 6 at 2 a.m.; and March 6 at 9 p.m. to March 7 at 5 a.m. Traffic will detour to Selmon Expressway (S.R. 618) to use the non-toll portion to the U.S. 301 exit. 
  • The southbound U.S. Highway 301 entrance ramp onto northbound I-75 will from March 7-8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will detour south on U.S. 301 to make a U-turn south of Bloomingdale Avenue to go north on U.S. 301 and use the northbound U.S. 301 ramp onto northbound I-75.
  • One lane will close on the northbound I-75 frontage ramps between U.S. 301 and State Road 60 on March 7-8 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane will close on the ramp from these frontage lanes to the Selmon Expressway (State Road 618) on March 9-10 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The northbound U.S. 301 ramp onto northbound I-75 will close March 9-10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will continue north on northbound U.S. 301, then make a U-turn at the intersection, with signals, at Crescent Park Drive to travel south on U.S. 301. Then, use the southbound U.S. 301 entrance ramp to northbound I-75.

  • Due to the Florida Strawberry Festival, underway through March 13, there is no I-4 resurfacing from Branch Forbes Road to Memorial Boulevard.
