Looking Ahead: Construction Alerts for Greater Brandon Motorists (Feb. 13-21)

As February advances, news you can use from the Florida Department of Transportation as you plan your daily commutes and evening activities.

Moving into mid-February, the Florida Department of Transportation offers a number of construction alerts for roadways of particular interest to Greater Brandon motorists.

The alerts cover the time period through Feb. 21 and are subject to change. Check online for updates. Visit the Florida Department of Transportation online. Also online, information about Tampa Bay interstates, at myTBI.com.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 4 / Selmon Expressway Connector Project:

  • One lane might close on the eastbound Selmon Expressway(State Road 618) between Exit 9 (22nd Street) and 34th Street on Feb. 14-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • One lane might close on eastbound and westbound Interstate 4 between Interstate and Exit 3 (50th Street) on Feb. 13-17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • One lane might close in each direction on State Road 60 (Adamo Drive) between 26th and 34th streets on Feb. 13-17, from 7 p.m to 5 a.m., and Feb. 14-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • One to two lanes might close in each direction on State Road 45 (20th, 21st and 22d streets) from State Road 60 to Harper Street on Feb. 13-17, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and on Feb. 14-19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • One lane will be closed in each direction of 7th Avenue from 34th Street to 22nd Street on Feb. 14-15, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Westbound lanes of 7th Avenue from 34th Street to 22nd Avenue will close round-the-clock for about two weeks beginning Feb. 15. The closures are due to water main construction. Westbound traffic will detour south on 34th Street, west on State Road 60, north on 22nd Street and then back to 7th Avenue.
  • One lane will close in both directions of 34th Street from 2nd Avenue to Grace Street on Feb. 13-17, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Feb. 14-19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Construction Alerts: Interstate 75 Slab Repairs from Progress Boulevard to State Road 60  

  • Two lanes are set to close on northbound I-75 from south of Progress Boulevard (south of U.S. 301, Exit 254) to north of State Road 60 (Exit 257) on Feb. 13-19, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Also, one lane will close on the northbound frontage lanes between U.S. 301 and State Road 60.
  • The U.S. Highway 301 and Selmon Expressway (State Road 618) entrance ramps onto northbound Interstate 75 (via the frontage lanes along I-75) will close Feb. 14-15 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will detour north on the frontage road, exist to eastbound State Road 60, make a U-turn at Grand Regency Boulevard, then use the westbound State Road 60 entrance ramp to gain access to northbound I-75.
  • The eastbound State Road 60 entrance ramp onto northbound I-75 will close Feb. 16-17 , from 9 p.m to 5 a.m. Detour traffic will continue east on State Road 60, make a U-turn at Grand Regency Boulevard, head west o State Road 60, then use the westbound State Road 60 ramp to gain access to northbound I-75.
  • The northbound I-75 exit to northbound U.S. Highway 301 (Exit 254) will close Feb. 18 at 11 p.m. to Feb. 21 at 5 a.m. Detour traffic will travel to the southbound U.S. 301 ramp and then make a U-turn south of Bloomingdale Avenue to travel north on U.S. 301.

 If you're traveling in neighboring Plant City:

  • One to two lanes will be closed for paving at night on westbound I-4 between Exit 25 (County Line Road) and Exit 17 (Branch Forbes Road) on Feb. 13-16 at night. Single-lane closures will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Double-lane closures are set for 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Interstate 4 interchange ramps are set to close Feb. 13-16, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for resurfacing. Visit myTBI.com for scheduling and detour information. Affected interchanges could include Exit 25 (County Line Road) and Exit 22 (Park Road/State Road 553).
