Main Event: Moonlight Magic (and More) at the 2011 Florida Strawberry Festival (March 11)

The ninth night of the 2011 Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City gets underway in Plant City. A sampling of performances, shows, events, exhibits and more on the March 11 schedule.

Moonlight Magic Night is set to get underway tonight, March 11, at the 2011 Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City. It’s also Tampa Tribune Day on the Midway, which means through 10 p.m. guests can purchase at a $2 discount the Fun Pack Ride Coupon Book, which normally sells for $10. Then, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., the Midway reopens. Purchase a $20 wristband to ride most mechanical rides for as many times as desired.

Tonight’s , Josh Thompson and Justin Moore, gets underway at 7:30 p.m. on the Wish Farm Soundstage. Tickets are available at the Stadium Ticket Office or the Main Ticket Office at Gate 1. Cost is $15 to $20. As with every headliner show, a few thousand free seats are available on a first- come, first-served basis, with seating in the adjacent Direct Auto Insurance Free Grandstands.

  • Pioneer Village, sponsored by JLT Industries, features ongoing demonstrations throughout the day and night. Includes woodwork and rope-making demonstrations involving the simple tools and traditional skills from from the turn of the century.
  • Livestock Contestant Judging is from 3 to 5 p.m., featuring FFA and 4-H exhibitors from throughout Hillsborough County. 
  • Showmanship Judging for the Beef Breed gets underway at 6 p.m. in the CF Industries Agriculture Tent, with youth livestock exhibitors featured.  
  • Spirit Song, from First Baptist Church of Plant City, will perform in the Sweetbay Supermarket Showcase Tent at 7:30 p.m.
  • The 9-foot-tall Rock-It-The-Robot covers the dance floor with moves that range from country to hip-hop with a show that starts at 7 p.m.
  • Show your support for Tobacco Free Florida, on the Strawberry Festival Ground tonight.
  • The Jay Taylor Band performs tonight in the Sweetbay Supermarket Showcase Tent at 5 p.m.
  • The Magic of Lance Gifford & Company show, also in the Sweetbay tent, kicks off at 6 p.m.
  • Dennis Lee and his band performs at 4 p.m.
  • Granpa Cratchet through jokes and stories builds a case for working together. He’ll be on stage tonight at 7:30 p.m., with a mobile show at 5:30 p.m.
