Major Selmon Expressway Exit Closed Until May

Heading into downtown Tampa? If your route includes getting off the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway at the main downtown exit, a recent closure will affect your plans.

The westbound exit from the Selmon Expressway to Kennedy Bolebard (Exit 8) is closed until mid- to-late May, according to officials from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The exit first closed Sunday, April 14.

The FDOT suggests the following detour:

• Use the next exit, Exit 7, which is also called the Downtown-West exit.

• To head to Kennedy Boulevard after exiting, turn right onto Morgan Street and go north to Kennedy Boulevard.
