Social Media Day in Tampa Bay Celebration at Cotanchobee Park

Greater Brandon interests will be represented today at the Social Media Day gathering at Cotanchobee Park in Tampa. The city reportedly is one of 13 cities and two states nationwide that have formally embraced the Mashable.com initiative.

 

Today is Social Media Day reportedly in 13 cities and two states and Irma Davila, the self-proclaimed “Queen of Brandon” is making sure in her Facebook posting that her townsfolk know of the Tampa Bay gathering at Cotanchobee Park.

Tampa Bay Mayor Bob Buckhorn signed the proclamation June 22 “to celebrate the city’s flourishing social media scene,” according to a report posted by Mashable.com, under whose auspices Social Media Day, June 30, has been established to celebrate “the connected generation around the world.”

Tampa "joins 13 other cities and two U.S. states in formally marking the day," according to the report.

Social Media Day in Tampa Bay is scheduled to kick off  2 p.m. today, June 30,  at Cotanchobee Park, 601 Old Water St., Tampa. The day’s events are to include carnival-style games created and hosted by local businesses. “Bring the family, some friends and your smartphone and join us as we take in some fresh air and celebrate everything we love about social media and our community.”

As issued in her own proclamation, posted on Facebook, Davila noted that:

The Social Community of Tampa Bay, including the East & South ares of the United Kingdom of Greater Brandon, are working together to improve communications, economic development, and the spirit of community through social media.
