New Brandon Boulevard Sidewalk to Link Mall, Gornto Lake Road

Minor traffic delays expected at one of Brandon's busiest intersections as two-month project gets under way this week.

A new sidewalk is being built linking the Westfield Brandon Mall and Gornto Lake Road along Brandon Boulevard.

Construction work on the project is set to begin this week.

“Lane closures may be required to build this project. However, traffic will be monitored for congestion,” according to a Florida Department of Transportation release announcing the project.

The majority of the work is expected to take place during daylight hours in the area, one the busiest in the Brandon area with exit and entrance ramps from northbound and southbound Interstate 75 and traffic from the mall.

The 0.3-mile sidewalk will cost $109,263. Semper FI Group is overseeing the project, which is expected to take about two months.
