PatchCast: Fallen Officer Fund Benefits From 'Roof Raiser' Drive

From a nearby Patch, news of this month's "roof faiser" fundraiser to benefit the families of slain St. Petersburg Police officers Jeffrey Laslowitz and David Crawford and Sgt. Tom Baitinger. The hook: Lokey Automotive's Jim Surrett lives on the roof.

Jim Surrett is sure of it: “There’s a lot worse places you can be today than” living on the roof of a car dealership, he said.

That would be Lokey Automotive, where Surrett, the dealership’s general manager, has been spending the month of April — 20 hours a day — aiming to bring awareness to his  monthlong campaign to raise money for the families of slain officers.

The Roof Raiser fundraiser is to benefit the families of fallen St. Petersburg Police officers Jeffrey Yaslowitz, David Crawford and Sgt. Tom Baitinger.
