PatchCast Video: The Hunt for 36,000 Eggs Over Four Softball Fields

The Bradenton Easter egg hunt was not for the faint-hearted. Lots of eggs, though, and lots of kids. The 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt is part of the DeSoto Festival in Bradenton, Fla.

More of a gathering than a hunt, the 17th annual Easter egg hunt April 23 at the G.T. Bray softball fields in Bradenton, Fla., drew a bunch of kids eager to snatch what they could from the collection of eggs spread over four softball fields.

As one observer put it, the kids ran from the start “much like locust over fields they will pick and clean in very short time.”

The hunt, hosted by Manatee County Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the DeSoto Heritage Festival, included a search for 36,000 colorful eggs, plus carnival games, bounce houses and slides, face painting and concessions.
