'Vine To Wine' at The Regent To Aid Trey Curry Pledge for A Kid's Place

The Trey Curry Foundation's pledge to raise $400,000 for a fifth home at A Kid's Place in Brandon will benefit again from the annual "Vine To Wine" fundraiser held at The Regent in Riverview.

Proceeds from the Trey Curry Foundation's May 18 "Vine To Wine" fundraiser at The Regent will help further the group's pledge to raise $400,000 for the establishment of a fifth home at A Kid's Place on Lithia Pinecrest Road.

Hundreds of guests are expected to sample fine wines, gourmet food and bid on live and silent auction items at the foundation's annual Vine to Wine event, which last year reportedly helped raise about $40,000 for the residential care facility for children in need of emergency housing.

Scheduled for the May 18 event, from 7 to 10 p.m., are wine pairings with gourmet food and a cooking demonstration by Chef Dave West of The Rolling Pin Kitchen Emporium in Brandon. Live and silent auction items will be available for bidding.

Tickets cost $75 and can be purchased online at A Kid's Place. Or call: 813-843-1833.

What Is The Trey Curry Foundation?

  • Clifton Conrad "Trey" Curry III would have turned 24 on Jan. 7. His untimely death in March 2008 led his family to establish days later a foundation to help Brandon children in need.
  • The Web site for the Trey Curry Foundation notes that "during his short life, Trey struggled with learning differences. Throughout his schooling experiences Trey always had that extra push and helping hand from adults as well as his peers. We believe that is what fueled his desire to do for others."
  • Trey Curry, with his siblings, Mary Beth and Colton, were raised in Brandon and Valrico, played baseball on the South Brandon Little League fields and attended the Brandon Academy, where Terry Curry was a principal, and later the co-owner with her husband. The two have since sold the school, which continues to operate at 801 Limona Rd.
