Will Jeremy Rosado Get Another Chance on ‘American Idol?'

Back home in Brandon, Wendy Ocasio said her son, Jeremy Rosado, is on a press tour in the Tampa Bay area after an emotional homecoming at Tampa International Airport, where they first learned that contestant Jermaine Jones is off the show.

With a tweet today, Jermaine Jones told the world that his run for this season’s “American Idol” crown has come to an abrupt end.

So, what does that mean for Jeremy Rosado, a student at the Brandon campus of Hillsborough Community College, who was the sole contestant booted off the show last week, by judges’ choice?

Will he be asked to return?

“I don’t know,” said his mother, Wendy Ocasio, in a phone interview shortly after People magazine posted its account of the development at 10 a.m. today, March 14.

“I would hope so, it would be nice, but I don’t know how they would play it out, without making it unfair for the other contestants.”

For now, Ocasio is just deeply proud of her son and his accomplishments and is firmly committed to helping him achieve his dreams — and get over his disappointment of making it far, but not far enough.

“He’s doing better, he was devastated, as you could imagine,” Ocasio said. “He said, ‘Ma, I knew I wasn’t going to win it but I didn’t think I was going to leave that soon.’  Two days of press tours helped him a lot.”

In that regard, Ocasio noted her son’s New York appearances on the “Today” show, “Good Morning America” and “Live With Kelly."

“That has helped him a whole lot, getting over the pain and the hurt, and he’s doing great,” Ocasio said. “I didn’t know he had that many fans in New York. He couldn’t walk the street without being noticed. There were paparrazzi, there were fans, and one of them gave him a gift. It was very emotional."

Ocasio noted, too, tourists from Switzerland, in Times Square, who approached her son and told him of their support.

“I don’t know exactly what happened,” she said, of her son’s failure to advance. “I honestly thought he had such a tremendous fan base back here, in Tampa, in New York and even in Puerto Rico.”

Arriving home at Tampa International Airport last night, March 13, Rosado was greeted by a large group of family, friends and fans, and “it was very emotional,” Ocasio said.

That’s when she and her son first heard about the possibility that Jones would be off the show. People asked them what that would mean for Rosado, if anything, and Ocasio said then, as she did today, that they had no idea.

What she does know for sure, however, is that her son has been blessed with an experience he will never forget and an opportunity he plans to explore to the fullest.

“What he got out of all this is that he sees the opportunity for his dreams to come true,” she said. “He’s gotten several call from different types of shows and producers who would like to work with him but he has to wait until he’s released from his ‘American Idol’ contract."

That will happen, she said, once this season’s show is over.

As for whether the show, indeed, is over for Rosado, “Who knows,” Ocasio said. “We’ll just wait to see how it plays out."

I do believe she should get another chance. He left too soon. He was the last person I expected to leave first. I love Jeremy for who he has shown Worldwide: kind, loving, the backbone of his contestants - who does that these days. He is so humble and most of all - Jeremy loves his God! How amazing is that. He is a mentor n roll model for the youth today. The world would be a better place if we had kids like him. Bring him back to aleast to thew Top 12 and allowed to do his tours with his family as he puts it. His fellows brother and sisters on the show. In my heart, he is already a winner and a loving son of the most high, God!!! Keep up the good work, Jeremy and pursue your career. Dream big and thrust God! Jeremiah 29: 11-14!!! God bless you always, your #1 fan all the way from NYC - Titi Evelyn

He deserves another shot! He has such an amazing voice, more so, at least I think, then a few of the contestants who have made it this far! He is a great role model and someone for kids and teens to look up to. American Idol, do the right thing and let Jeremy come back!
