The
recipient of numerous national and international awards, Brakel has won
critical acclaim from St. Paul’s Cathedral in London to St. Patrick’s Cathedral
in New York to Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.  Celebrated American organ and choral composer
Robert Hebble said of him, “The artistry of Adam Brakel is truly beyond what
can be said of a young man.  He touches
each note with understanding and passion and the resulting sound is
brilliant.  He has an all consuming
ability to communicate the essence of every piece he plays.”  Others have compared him to Lizst and
Paganini for his technique, virtuosity and vitality.

Brakel
will play a variety of pieces, including the Bach Dorian D Minor Toccata, the
Gigout Scherzo, Widor Pontifical March, and Dick Hyman’s amazing variations on
Shenandoah.

The
860-pipe organ, manufactured in Canada by Casavant Frères, was installed in St. Clement’s in 1979.  It has 2 manuals, 3 divisions, 16 stops, 12
registers, and 16 ranks.  Casavant Frères, founded in 1879, is the largest pipe organ builder in the world.

A
donation of $20.00 is suggested to benefit the St. Clement’s capital fund.  A reception will follow the concert where
members of the audience will be able to meet and talk with Mr. Brakel.
