“Humana is very pleased to provide nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay area with an opportunity to receive this transformational funding,” said Dan Feruck, Humana Employer Group Florida Market president.

“We saw so many outstanding Bay area charities and nonprofit groups benefit from this money when we awarded the one-time grant between 2006 and 2009, and we’re thrilled to once again have a strong and enduring impact on another deserving nonprofit in our community,” said Dr. Scott Latimer, Humana Central Florida Senior Products Market president. “We encourage all eligible nonprofits in Tampa Bay to apply for their chance to receive this year’s $100,000 grant.”

“Receiving the Humana Communities Benefit grant in 2008 was a tremendous opportunity for our ‘Homes for the Holidays’ program to make a lasting impact on families in the Tampa Bay area,” said Warrick Dunn, founder of Warrick Dunn Charities Inc.

“Through the generosity of Humana, the $100,000 grant assisted three deserving single-parent families with everything from lowering their monthly mortgage payments to purchasing cleaning supplies, lawn care necessities, food and home furnishings,” added Dunn, a former pro football star for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.

“The Humana grant was instrumental in enabling us to provide our first opportunity for families to benefit from professional counseling, not only our young patients, but also help with the emotional needs of their siblings and parents,” said Patty O’Leary, chief operating officer of 2009 Humana Communities Benefit-Tampa Bay grant recipient The Children’s Cancer Center.
