Fourth of July Brandon Blast Fireworks a Post-Parade Must-Do

After the 2013 Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade, the Brandon Blast Fireworks Celebration at Westfield Brandon is the place to be.

Last year it was a perfect Fourth of July for Jenny Gloer, who started her day with the Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade and ended it with the Brandon Blast Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration at Westfield Brandon.

There, Gloer, a teacher at Mann Middle School, talked about what for many townsfolk is a routine for the July 4th celebration: Wake up, go to the parade, go home, have a barbeque, take a nap then pack the car back up for a night watching fireworks with the rest of the Brandon community.

“Just the small-town feel," she told the Brandon Patch at the 2012 event. "When we arrived here from Atlanta, we remembered the town center. We’re having that feeling again, in Brandon."

It's time for that feeling again.

The 2013 Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade, presented by the Community Roundtable, is set to kick off at 10 a.m., with festivities expected to end at 12:30 or 1 p.m.

Then, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Brandon Blast, sponsored by WQYK 99.5,  gets under way at the Westfield Brandon shopping mall, with live music, food, fireworks and family events, including a bounce house, face painting, magic shows and a video-game theatre. There is also a chance to win a $1,000 Westfield Brandon shopping spree.

Westfield Brandon will be open for business July 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; restaurants and some food-court and department store retailers will remain open throughout the evening.
