Sign Up Now For the Aquathon, Cannonballapalooza

The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center is busy setting the course for its
second annual Dash and Splash Aquathon on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Set as a run-swim-run event, this year will include a chipped 5K as well for nonswimmers. The proceeds from this event will go toward youth drowning prevention by helping us to provide swim lessons and water safety instruction for the children of families who cannot afford them. The adult race begins at 7:30 a.m. with the kids’ race at 8:30 a.m.

Unique to the Brandon area, last year’s event was a huge success despite the day’s thunderstorms.

Added to this year’s fun immediately following the Dash and Splash Awards Ceremony will be the first annual Cannonballapalooza, a community cannonball competition. Singles, teams, tandem jumps and more will be exeuted and assigned points by some of our best local celebrity judges, complete with Olympic-style opening and closing ceremonies. Open family swim will be free for the community, and the fun will continue with a DJ, a beverage tent and the food trucks.

Please visit us at www.mybsac.org and look for registration instructions on our homepage. Sponsorship opportunities also available. For more information, please call Lori Bukaweski at 813-361-7450.
