GMO's (Genetically Modified Organism) in our Food? Say What?

March for our Food Supply!
March for our Food Supply!
If you are like most Americans, you don't pay attention to what is in your food or how it is made.  Did you know that you are eating food with genetically modified ingredients?  Do you know what GMO's are?  I can tell you, if you start researching it, you are not going to like what you find.  Monsanto is a multi-billion dollar corporation and is the largest producer of GMOs.  The short version of what GMOs are is when you take a trait from one unrelated species and genetically insert it into another and make a completely different species, unknown to nature (and patentable by man).  For instance, take corn.  Corn has been genetically modified to produce it's own toxin.  Monsanto has taken a naturally occurring pesticide from the soil and breed it with a bacteria and inserted it into the DNA of the corn plant thus changing the genetic makeup of that plant. The corn plant now produces it own pesticide and when insects eat the plant, their stomachs explode.  Unfortunately, we are also eating that pesticide in addition to the chemicals they spray on the corn.  By the way, corn is in just about everything! No human testing has been conducted to see if there are health concerns and those that have been done on animals are showing alarming concerns.  The FDA has giving biotech giants like Monsanto free reign to produce whatever mutants they want and refuse to require labeling of products so we as consumers can make an informed decision as to whether we want to eat them.  Did you know that Europe and many countries around the world either have banned GMOs in their food supply or require labeling.  Not in the United States! There is a movement going on right now to get products with GMOs in them labeled.  Washington State is next up and hopefully the measure will pass.  Does this concern you?  It should!  Think of your children eating GMOs and think of the incidence of ADD, ADHD, allergies and many other problems.  Could GMOs be contributing to this? I personally think so.  I think nature did a find job in creating plants (and animals) just the way they are suppose to be.  Man cannot improve upon nature and if he tries  - we will (are) suffer the dire consequence.  Did you know that recent polls show over 90% of American want GMOs labeled! but Monsanto and other corporations are fighting it with huge sums of money and a media attack to scare the public.  What are they trying to hide?  Makes you wonder.  What can you do to change this?  Become involved in this issue.  Write the President and your congress person and tell them you want GMO's labeled.  Talk to your grocer and ask them to carry more Non-GMO products, buy organic and Non GMO Project Verified Foods, buy from your local farmers market, educate yourself, your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers etc.  Come out and March Against Monsanto on October 12, 2013 in Tampa.  This is a worldwide event and the previous March in May had over 2 million participants across the World.  Be part of the change.  If everyone makes a stand, these biotech companies will realize we want organic, real, unaltered food to feed our family!  For more information on the upcoming March go to FB Page: March Against Monsanto Tampa.  Hope to see you there!  Other resources for info on GMOs:  www.organicconsumers.org; www.responsibletechnology.org; www.justlabelit.org;  I am a natural health advocate fighting for our food supply.  My website is www.wellnessbydessa.com.

As a consumer, it is important to know what I am buying and feeding my loved ones. I would love to know what's really in my food. Thank you, Dessa! I am with you on this most important issue.
