Seffner Man Dies Thanksgiving Day in Ford F-150 Pickup Truck Accident

Daniel R. Walls dies in an accident involving two Ford F-150 pickup trucks at State Road 579 and Old East Hillsborough Avenue on Thanksgiving Day. The second driver, from Orlando, reportedly swerved in an attempt to avoid impact.

A 75-year-old Seffner man died Thanksgiving Day at State Road 579 and Old East Hillsborough Avenue in a two-truck accident that left one pickup truck overturned, according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the overturned truck, Daniel R. Walls, of 11416 East Highway 92, Lot 28, reportedly was trapped inside his vehicle and pronounced dead by paramedics who responded to the scene after an 11 a.m. dispatch.

The driver of the second truck, Simona Naugle, 23, of 3735 Conroy Road, Orlando, reportedly suffered “bumps and bruises” and was not transported to the hospital.

According to the sheriff’s report:

  • Walls was attempting to cross State Road 579 eastbound, in a 1990 black, Ford F-150 pickup truck, when he entered the path of a red, 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Naugle.
  • Naugle swerved left to avoid impact but was unable to do so.
  • Naugle’s truck struck Wall’s truck in the driver’s side, which caused the truck to overturn.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident, according to the sheriff’s report.
