Biker Dies in I-4 Crash; Third Fatal Motorcycle Crash in 9 Days
Six people, three motorcyclists, two pedestrians and a teenage driver, have died on area roadways in the last nine days.
A crash on Interstate-4 near Branch Forbes Road in Eastern Hillsborough County killed a 28-year-old man late last night, the third motorcycle fatality on Brandon-area roads in 9 days.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. Oct. 12 when Christopher Robert Sherman was driving west on I-4 on a 2005 Yamaha MC and quickly overtook a dump truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Failing to slow down, Sherman, 28, of Pinellas Park, then slammed into the back of a pickup and was thrown from his bike against the rear of the truck.

Sherman died at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation.

A Valrico motorcyclist, Frank J. Pena, 51, Oct. 4.
The crash occurred at 6:50 p.m. when Frank J. Pena was riding his 1981 Yamaha Eleven west on State Road 60 at St. Cloud Avenue where he collided with a car.
A Seffner teen riding a motorcycle was when he crashed into a pickup truck on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
