Brandon Hog Hunter Accidentally Shoots Girlfriend

Steven Egan mistakenly shot his girlfriend in the woods in Flagler County after hearing a noise he thought was a hog, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

A Brandon woman was shot in both legs Saturday night by her boyfriend in an apparent hog-hunting accident, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Flagler County deputies said that Steven Egan, 52, mistook his girlfriend, 52-year-old Lisa Simmons, for a wild hog while the two were hunting from a tent at the Cowart Hunt Camp on County Road 305, according to the Sentinel.

Egan apparently left the tent to track a hog and, hearing a noise in the woods, shot at it with his .30 caliber rifle, not realizing Simmons had later left the tent, the newspaper reports.
