Brandon Teens Reportedly Used Insect Spray To Rob Pizza Hut Delivery Woman

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that the youths, ages 14 and 16, sprayed the Pizza Hut delivery woman in the eyes with an insecticide used to kill wasps, then ran off with the pizzas in the Providence Run neighborhood.

Two Brandon teens, a 14- and 16-year-old, reportedly used bug spray to steal pizzas from a Pizza Hut delivery woman Thursday afternoon, Oct. 7, in the Providence Lakes neighborhood.

The teens were arrested quickly after the robbery and now face felony robbery charges, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The 16-year-old reportedly was also charged with possession of marijuana.

According to the report, the delivery woman, 42, was delivering pizzas to an address on Wakefield Drive in Providence Run at 1:43 p.m. when she was approached by the 14-year-old, who handed the woman a $1 bill.

As she looked at the bill the second teen reporteldy approached her from behind and sprayed her eyes with an insecticide used to kill wasps. The 14-year-old then grabbed the pizzas and fled on foot with his accomplice.

Deputies along with K9 units quickly responded to the scene and began a search of the area. A K9 unit picked up the trail of one of the teens and was able to track him to his neighborhood less than one mile away.

Deputies found the 14-year-old suspect walking through the neighborhood. The second teen was arrested a short time later.

The delivery woman was able to identify both suspects. She was treated by EMS and released.
