Chase Ends at Mango I-4 Exit

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies aid in the pursuit of a woman who ran out of gas at the Mango exit on Interstate 4 after a traffic stop in Plant City.

An empty tank of gas reportedly stopped the flight of a Plant City woman whose attempt to elude officers ended near the Mango exit on Interstate 4.

Deborah Lynn Boyles, 44, on July 7 was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and aggravated fleeing to elude. She also faces charges of driving while license suspended and violation of probation, according to a report by the Plant City Police Department.

At around 7:52 a.m., police officers responded to a call at 2904 North Franklin Street regarding a loaned vehicle that had not been returned.

Peggy Boyles, the registered owner of a 2001 Dodge Stratus, reported that she had loaned the car to her granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Boyles. Officers drove to the Days Inn at 301 South Frontage Road, where they had been told the granddaughter possibly was staying.

There, they spotted Boyles in the car and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, having determined after a records check that Boyles had an outstanding warrant for driving while license suspended.

The chase ensued after Boyles reportedly refused to stop and “struck the push bumper of one officer’s vehicle.” In pursuit, the Plant City Police Department was aided by officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol.

Boyles reportedly was taken into custody as the investigation continued.
