Clues Sought for Burglaries at Brandon Sprint, Tampa T-Mobile Stores

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports thieves broke through drywall from adjacent vacant storefronts to gain access to the Sprint store at 1916 West Brandon Boulevard and a T-Mobile store on Henderson Road.

Law enforcement officials seek leads to help solve crimes in Brandon and Tampa that involved thieves cutting through the drywall of vacant storefronts to steal electronics from adjacent businesses.

In Brandon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office seeks information concerning two men who broke through the drywall at a Sprint store in Brandon and walked away with $38,000 worth of electronics.

The two thieves were captured in surveillance photos captured at the store, at 1916 West Brandon Blvd., just east of the entranceways to both the Regency Square shopping center and the Westfield Brandon mall.

With the sheriff office’s June 3 release of a surveillance photo, the men are described as follows:

  • Male, white, medium build, wearing a black baseball cap, black T-shirt,
blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
  • Male, unknown race, medium build, wearing a white baseball cap, light-colored shirt and jeans.

According to the sheriff’s incident report, the two men on May 10, at around 2:07 a.m., broke into a vacant storefront adjacent to the Sprint store, where they cut a hole in the drywall that allowed entrance into the Sprint store.

Earlier that night, Tampa police reportedly investigated a similar burglary, at the T-Mobile store on Henderson Boulevard. There, as well, the thieves broke into a vacant, adjacent storefront to gain access by cutting a hole into the adjoining drywall.
