Crashes on the interstate made driving a nightmare for commuters this morning in the Brandon area.
One early morning accident in Seffner had traffic backed up for several miles.
The first crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Interstate 4 in Seffner when traffic slowed in front of a traffic trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The tractor trailer failed to stop in time and struck the rear of a Honda and a Chevrolet pickup truck.
The tractor trailer and Honda veered to the inside shoulder and the Chevy veered to the right shoulder and then struck a Buick.
The crash closed all but one lane of westbound I-4 and had traffic backed up for several miles during the busiest hours of the early morning commutte.
There was also a crash involving a motorcycle on the I-4 entrance ramp in the area this morning.
"We had one person taken to Tampa General Hospital and another taken to St. Joseph's Hospital as a result of the crashes," said Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol.
