Deputies arrived on the scene at 11606 Valencia Drive in Seffner after a call to 911 at 9:26 p.m. reporting someone had been shot.

Tammy Holloway, who lives three houses away from the home where the incident occurred, was in her backyard when she heard what she thought were firecrackers.

“I heard a bam, bam, bam, then a woman screaming. It didn’t sound loud enough to be gunshots but then I came outside later and the street was covered with deputies.”

According to neighbors, two men were fighting in the front yard when the shooting took place.

“I’ve heard a few fights on the street but this is the first time we’ve had something like this happen,” said Derrick Bullard, a five-year resident of Valencia Drive.

One of the shooting victims also spoke openly about owning a handgun, neighbors said.

“This incident does not appear to be random at this time,” reported detective Larry McKinnon, a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, in a report sent at 10:54 p.m.

Earlier, at 8:41 p.m., the sheriff’s office reportedly received a call that a man with active warrants, possibly armed and suicidal, was inside a residence at 606 Lake Drive in Brandon.

At 2:45 a.m., members of the sheriff's office SWAT team entered the residence and took the man into custody without injuries to any SWAT members or the barricaded individual.

The man will undergo a physical and mental screening, according to sheriff's office spokesman Det. Larry McKinnon.
