Driver in Fatal Plant City Hit-And-Run May Be Illegal

Immigration officials put a detainer on Timoteo Gabriel DeJesus after he was arrested following a crash that killed 16-year-old Brandon Michael Sullivan of Plant City, the AP reports.

The driver who is charged in a hit-and-run that killed a Plant City teenager may be an illegal immigrant, according to an ABC Action News report via The Associated Press.

U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement put a detainer on 23-year-old Timoteo Gabriel DeJesus after he was arrested late Monday, according to the AP.

Police said DeJesus , with his 1995 Lincoln Town Car as the two boys were walking to a convenience store at Turkey Creek Road and State Road 574.

Sullivan, of Plant City, was found dead at the scene. Gonzalez, of Dover, suffered a broken leg and was released from the hospital Tuesday, TBO.com reports.

Investigators said they used a tip to track down DeJesus' car and eventually after they found him hiding at his workplace, Pallet Express, Inc., at 1705 Turkey Creek Rd.

DeJesus was also arrested on an unrelated warrant for domestic battery and has several previous arrests. He was on the road despite not having a driver's license, records show.

Funeral services for Sullivan will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Testament Church, Dew Bloom Road in Brandon, TBO.com reports.
