High Winds, Possible Tornado Destroy Dover Home

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and sheriff's office deputies searched through the wreckage at the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park.

Mother Nature unleashed her fury in Eastern Hillsborough County on July 17, with reports of severe and minor damages at the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park on Jess Walden Road in Dover.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies and first resopnders from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue searched through the damage at 12640 Jess Walden Road but "did not locate any victims in the wreckage of the severely damaged mobile home."

"There are additional reports of minor damage to other trailers within the mobile home park," added the updated report, issued at 5:59 p.m., "with no reported injuries."

Less than an hour earlier the sheriff's office issued a report that the mobile home had suffered "significant damage resulting from high winds and/or a tornado." It was believed that the home at the time had not been occupied.

The mobile home park is about 5 miles from the intersections of East State Road 60 and Valrico Road, where an intense storm with high winds struck June 26.
