Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Recognizes Longevity, Retirees (Q1 2012)

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office holds a quarterly recognition ceremony for deputies, detectives, civilians and retirees that, among other things, recognizes longevity of service. The latest ceremony was March 14, for the first quarter of 2012.

 

Col. James Previtera of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office welcomed attendees to the Falkenburg Road Jail to recognize nine employees for their longevity of service and another two employees for joining "the ranks of the retired."

Respect was paid March 14 at the Awards Recognition Ceremony for the first quarter of 2012. The quarterly recognition gathering is held at the jail assembly room in the Greater Brandon area of Tampa, at 520 North Falkenburg Rd.

Noting that the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office "enjoys a strong reputation in the community," Previtera said that standing is attributed "to the nearly 4,000 men and women who make up the sheriff's office."

  • Michelle Isaacson, who began her career in 1986 as a deputy at the Morgan Street Jail. "Quickly recognized as an outstanding deputy, she was selected to train others," Previtera said, and during  her tenure in detention she served as corporal in the transportation section. Promoted to sergeant in 1995, Isaacson in retirement said she plans to go cruising and travel abroad with her mother.
  • Cynthia Cheney, who in 2002 started with the sheriff's office as an evidence technician. Her work at the District II evidence room included "assisting in the daunting task of evidence collection, organization and destruction." She worked with her peers to establish a paperless system and found time to volunteer, sewing dresses for less fortunate women in Africa. In retirement, she plans to continue her volunteer work and travel to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
