I-75 Commute Delayed by Fiery Crash in Pasco

The commercial truck accident has all but shut down I-75, with only one northbound lane open.

Brandon motorists traveling I-75 Thursday should be aware of some major traffic delays, depending on their route.

This morning, at 6:30 a.m., a major crash occurred on Interstate 75 southbound, just north of State Road 56, in Pasco County. The crash involved two commercial vehicles.  The vehicles caught fire and were fully engulfed.  No injuries are reported.

Currently one lane northbound is open. The interstate is expected to remain closed southbound for up to six hours.

UPDATE: Damage to the roadway will require the southbound lanes of I-75 to remain closed until 6:00 pm or later. Southbound traffic on I-75 will be diverted onto Exit 279 (SR-54).  Traffic south of that exit and north of the crash will be diverted back to SR-54 or southbound on the shoulder to SR-56 to exit the roadway.
