Investigators Identify Man Who Died In Motorcycle Crash
Douglas D. Waugh, 62, was thrown from his motorcycle at U.S. 301 and Palm River Road after colliding with a van.
Investigators have identified a man who died July 24 when he crashed into a van at U.S. 301 and Palm River Road in the Greater Brandon area.
Douglas D. Waugh, 62, was thrown from his motorcycle at U.S. 301 and Palm River Road when he collided with a van driven by Marcus Willard Johnson, 29, of Tampa, according to a release from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Waugh died at the scene.
Johnson was driving a Dodge Caravan south on U.S. 301, in the left turn lane, when he attempted to turn left onto Palm River Road at 3:34 p.m., when the crash occurred, according to a release from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The driver of the motorcycle was traveling northbound on U.S. 301, in the outside lane. Both vehicles entered the intersection, where Johnson turned left in front of the motorcycle, violating the right-of-way, according to the report.
The incident remains under investigation.
