Know An Exceptional First Reponder? Nominations Sought

Know a "rock solid" first responder? The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is spreading the word about a contest seeking the most exceptional first responder, which starts with nominations received by 2 p.m. today, July 24.

Subsequently, voting for the top responder runs from July 24 at 3 p.m. through Aug. 5 as 11:59 p.m. The winner will receive a free weekend at The Hard Rock, dinner at Council Oaks, breakfast in the Green Room and a special awards ceremony tribute.

The "Rock Solid" benefit concert is set for Friday, August 9, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Seminole Hard Rock. The benefit will feature a silent auction and performances by 102.5 The Bone's Cowhead Show band Pitbull Toddler and, from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Jay Hajj's band.

First Responders will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last and free admission. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Lynn Sower's Memorial Fund and the Hillsborough Firefighters Benevolent Relief Fund.
