Local Fallen Heroes Since 9/11 Remembered on Sheriff's Web Site

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office pays tribute online to Fallen Heroes who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom. The list of 54 soldiers includes 37 who served in the U.S. Army.

 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has established a permanent online memorial for those who lost their lives in service to the country since the terrorist attacks of 2001.

The site, last updated August 26, names 54 soldiers, including one special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration. The list also notes 37 soldiers from the Army, 11 from the Marines, three from the Air Force and two from the Navy (see list below).

  • Brandon Patch , when the number of lives lost locally numbered 47. Added to the list since that time were seven fallen heroes.

“We extend our gratitude to each Fallen Hero who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom,” notes the online site for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice through service.

“Our hope is that the families and friends of the Fallen Heroes know that we will never forget what they sacrificed,” reads the online announcement. “And as time marches on we should do our best to make sure their names are not forgotten. Remembrance is so very special to those who lost someone in service to our country.”

The notice ends with a heartfelt “God bless” to all troops, “especially those who are in harm’s way,” and an offering of prayers “to the military families of our nation.”

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will never forget,” concludes the message, which then showcases a link to view the list of 54 Fallen Heroes from Hillsborough County.
