Motorist Shot At Causeway Boulevard Light, Road Rage Suspected

A 46-year-old Brandon man was shot in the leg, chest and arm at the Causeway Boulevard and U.S. Highway 301 traffic light and road rage is the suspected reason, according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The search is on for the shooter, described as an Hispanic white male driving a white, newer-model SUV. He was last seen driving south on U.S. Highway 301.

According to the report, the incident occurred Monday, Sept. 16, at about 6:08 p.m., when both the shooter and Kristen Craig, in a Ford 150, were driving eastbound on Causeway Boulevard, approaching U.S. Highway 301.

In the car with Craig, 45, was William Seago, 46. When stopped at the traffic light, the shooter walked up to the passenger side of the Ford 150 "and fired at the passenger twice, striking him in the leg, chest and arm," according to the report. "The suspect then got back into his vehicle and was last seen driving south on U.S. 301, away from the scene."

The report notes that Craig is of the belief "she may have cut the suspect off while driving and that this was an act of road rage."

An ambulance took Seago to Tampa General Hospital, where he reportedly was being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
