Report: Man Uses 911 Calls to Request Female Deputies for Sex

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that a Dover man was detained after making seven false 911 calls over a three-day period.

A Dover man today, Aug. 24, placed his last of seven calls to 911 requesting female deputies "to respond to his residence for sexual gratification," according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The last in a string of calls, which started Aug. 22 at approximately 10:15 a.m.,  was placed at approximately 7:39 a.m. today.

About four hours later, deputies showed up at the man's home, at which time Joshua Basso, 32, reportedly admitted to making the calls to 911 that were answered by Hillsborough County Communications Bureau dispatchers.

Basso, of 2402 North Dover Road, was reportedly taken into custody without incident.

Bureau workers are responsible for answering all incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and for placing dispatch calls to deputies. In a typical year, bureau workers answer a half-million emergency calls from the public, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
