Riverview Woman Among Four Arrested In Precious Metal Thefts

Marissa L. Reagan, 21, was arrested Aug. 31 with her boyfriend, Louis Cappello, who is facing multiple counts of dealing in stolen property, burglary and grand theft.

A Riverview woman is facing charges of dealing in stolen property after selling 700 pounds of brass to a scrap metal dealer in Polk County last month, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Marissa L. Reagan, 21, of 8813 Millpoint Road, was arrested Aug. 31 with her boyfriend, Louis Cappello, who is facing multiple counts of dealing in stolen property, burglary and grand theft.

The arrests come on the heels of a rash of in the Bay area.

Also arrested in connection with the case were were Nathan J. Hondrellis and Matthew S. Davis of Tampa. Davis is facing grand theft and burglary charges. Hondrellis is facing burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property charges.

According to detectives, Davis and Capello were seen selling more than 500 pounds of impellers, spider wheels and covers at IMRC, a scrap metal recycler at 4131 Causeway Blvd. in Tampa at 3:11 p.m. Aug. 22.

Some $20,000 in brass impellers, spider wheels, covers and steel shafts were stolen from Industrial & Marine Maintenance, 5511 24th Ave. S., Tampa, earlier that morning, detectives said.

Cappello and his girlfriend, Reagan, later scrapped an additional 700 pounds of stolen brass in Polk County on Aug. 24, surveillance video showed.

On Aug. 31, Cappello, Davis and Hondrellis entered Padgett Swann, 5103 36th Ave. S.E., where they removed brass boat propellers valued in excess of $100,000, detectives said. The defendants loaded the stolen items into a U-Haul truck rented by Hondrellis.  

The defendants unloaded the truck at a co-defendant's residence.  All of the property from the Padgett Swann burglary has been recovered.

Detectives developed information that enabled them to identify the suspects, and all four were taken into custody.
