Seffner Man Killed Crossing Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Darryl Ellis, 46, was crossing the roadway but not in the marked crosswalk, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Seffner man was killed while crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Lakewood Drive late Monday night, May 21, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators said Darryl Ellis, 46, was struck by a Ford F-150 truck that was headed west on MLK around 11:30 p.m. Ellis "was not crossing in the marked crosswalk that was available, rather he was walking just outside the crosswalk area," FHP said in a media release.

The right, front portion of the truck hit Ellis, who was propelled into the outside lane of the road, investigators said. He died at the scene.
