Seffner Store Clerk's Beating Captured on Video

Two men brutally beat a 71-year-old convenience store clerk in Seffner who was thrown to the floor after he was forced to open the cash register behind the counter, according to a video of the crime posted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies seek the public's help in finding the two men who brutally struck and kicked the clerk, Hasimbhai Indawala, at the U.S. 92 Convenience Store at 102 West U.S. Highway 92 and Kings Avenue in Seffner on July 22.

According to the sheriff's report and the posted video:

• One assailant leaped over the counter and grabbed Indawala while the second assailant, armed with a knife, went to the back of the counter, took the clerk, and dropped him to the ground.

• The first assailant then joined his accomplice behind the counter, where he attempted to open the cash register. Unsuccessful, the second assailant lifted the clerk, who apparently was instructed to open the cash register, which he did, sandiwched between his assailants.

• The first assailant takes out the drawer and moves it to a location outside the camera's view while the second assailant lifts the clerk and throws him to the ground, kicking him in the head and striking him "several more times." The first assailant returns, drops to the floor, and issues his own attack, with strikes and kicks. Several packs of cigarettes were grabbed from the back counter, according to the report.

• The assailants left the store and fled in an unkown direction, riding in a dark-colored, older model, four-door sedan, believed to be a Dodge or Chrysler.

• Indawala was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital, then transferred to Tampa General Hosptibal, where he remains, because of the extent of his injuries.

White male, 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, light brown hair. Last ween wearing black shirt and jeans.

White male, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, brown hair. Last seen wearing blue shirt and jeans.
