UPDATE: Woman Shoots Self In Stomach At Hotel Near Falkenburg Road
Hillsborough County SWAT responded to the Red Roof Inn
A woman with a gun who had barricaded herself inside the Red Roof Inn in Brandon, shot herself in the stomach and was transported to Tampa General Hospital, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The address of the hotel is 10121 Horace Ave., near the corner of Falkenburg Road and Adamo Drive in Brandon.
The woman was speaking to officers near the hotel as she was being transported to the hospital, according to the release.
The sheriff's office said earlier that the woman was threatening to hurt herself. They also closed Horace Avenue, which runs behind Bob Evans restaurant just north of Adamo Drive. Only people staying near the room where the woman was barricaded had been evacuated.
