Early Primary Election Voting Runs Through Aug. 11

Eligible voters can cast their ballots at any one of 15 early voting sites in Hillsborough County, including at the Robert L. Gilders Elections Service Center on Falkenburg Road, Bloomingdale Regional Library and Plant City's Bruton Memorial Library.

Early voting is under way in Hillsborough County. Excluding Sundays, early voting for the 2012 Primary Election runs through Saturday, Aug. 11.  

Unlike voting on Election Day, early voting allows all eligible voters to cast their ballot at any of the 15 approved Early Voting sites in Hillsborough County.

In a Florida Primary Election, only voters who are registered with a political
party can vote for their party's candidates.

However, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in nonpartisan races (School Board and judicial candidates) and contests where all candidates have the same political affiliation, and the winner of the primary election will not have any opposition in the general.

Among the races on the Republican primary ballot are U.S. senator, U.S. Congress districts 14 and 17, Florida Senate District 24, property appraiser and state House District 59.

Featured races on the Democratic ballot include U.S. senator and supervisor of elections.

On the nonpartisan ballot are the Hillsborough County School Board and judicial races.

Excluding Sundays, Early Voting for the 2012 Primary Election will take place from Monday, July 30 to Saturday, Aug. 11. Hours of operation vary depending on Early Vote site.

Early voting sites include:

  • Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center, 2514 North Falkenburg Road, Tampa (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Fred B. Karl County Center, 26th floor, 601 East Kennedy Blvd., Tampa (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Bloomingdale Regional Public Library,1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Bruton Memorial Library, 302 West McClendon St., Plant City (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Riverview Branch Library, 10509 Riverview Dr., Riverview (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Polls at these locations are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Remember to bring a valid photo and signature ID when you go to vote.

Examples of acceptable valid photo IDs include:

  • Florida driver license
  • Florida ID card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military ID
  • Student ID
  • Retirement center ID
  • Neighborhood association ID
  • Public assistance ID
