Early Voting Breaks a Record, Harbinger of 2012 General Election?

Early voting is over and the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office reports a record turnout for early bird ballots, including vote-by-mail ballots. Is this a sign of things to come for the 2012 General Election on Nov. 6?

A record-high 166,937 early votes have been cast in Hillsborough County, which breaks the previous General Election record, set in 2008, of 146,558 early votes, according to a news report from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office.

Coupled with the 143,829 votes this year that have been returned via vote-by-mail ballots and Hillsborough County is showing a 41.32 percent voter turnout with just days to go before the 2012 General Election.

"I think we're going to have an excellent turnout this year, we've already had a record number of early and vote-by-mail ballots," said Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Earl Lennard, in a phone interview Nov. 3. "I'm very grateful people are meeting their civic responsibility and taking time to vote."

More than one-third of the early votes cast in the eight days of early voting in Hillsborough County have been cast in the southeastern part of the county, according to figures released from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office.

As of Nov. 3, at 9:45 p.m., 56,887 early votes were cast collectively at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center, SouthShore Library, Riverview Branch Library and Bruton Memorial Library, in Plant City. Those votes accounted for 34.6 percent of the 166,937 early votes cast.

The two sites in the Greater Brandon area alone — at the Bloomingdale Regional Library and at the elections service center — accounted for 24,924 votes, or for 15 percent of the early votes cast through Nov. 3 (see chart below).

Early voting for the 2012 General Election started Oct. 27 and ended yesterday, Nov. 3.

Obama up in Florida and other states in early voting: http://news.yahoo.com/obama-seems-early-vote-lead-key-states-204705391--election.html But I have to wonder what any Romney voters are thinking. Who knows Romney better than anybody? How about the state who actually voted him in before, as Governor. So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how Romney governs, is voting... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ma/massachusetts_romney_vs_obama-1804.html The average of all polls, whether you believe some to be conservative or liberal leaning, still gives Obama a 20+ point lead. So my question is, why aren't more people paying attention to this? You can't shrug it off that it is MA and they always lean this way, because they voted Romney himself in as a Republican. The reality is that Romney can't even get close in this election in the only state that he has governed before, where the people actually know what you get if you vote for Romney. If he was the success that he pretends to be in MA, don't you think that he would be leading in MA or at the very least, have a close race going on there?

I agree. He legislature vetoed over 300 line items when he was in office. This is why he was only one term governor. If you really want the truth about what is going to happen to us. When do we start letting presidential candidates accept campaign money from foreign countries. What did he promise??? Read about Freeport IL story about Sensata Company where Romney has investments; made a profit over 15 million and this company sold by Bain Capital. 170 employees lost their jobs, had to train the Chinese people on how to work the equipment and they took down the United States flag and flying China flag. This company had a net profit of over half billion dollars the 1st two quarters of this company. Does he really care about the working people?
