With hours to go before Election Day, here's a list of things to know as registered voters prepare to cast their ballots for the 2012 General Election.

Over-the-counter, mail-by-vote ballots are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the four offices of the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office:

  • Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center, 2514 North Falkenburg Road, Tampa
  • South Office, 10439 Gibsonton Driver, Riverview, 33578
  • Fred B. Karl County Center, 16th Floor, 601 East Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, 33602
  • North Office, 12022 Anderson Road, Tampa, 33625

Election Day, Nov. 6

  • Hillsborough County opens more than 300 polling places on Election Day. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Registered voters must vote in their assigned precincts. You can verify your Hillsborough County registration status online. Fill out the form to review your voter registration information, locate your polling location, your Florida voter registration number, to review your sample ballot, to review your voting activity over the past 12 months and to check the status of your vote-by-mail or absentee ballot.
  • You do not have to vote on every race and/or issue for your ballot to count.
  • You are allowed to bring a sample ballot into the voting booth with you. (Remember, though, to submit the ballot given to you by the poll worker for your vote to count.)
  • All marked ballots must be received in any of four offices of the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. (see list above).
