State House Candidate Gottlieb Announces AFL-CIO Endorsement

Gail Gottlieb, the Democratic Party's candidate for Florida's 59th State House district, which includes Brandon, Riverview and Valrico, has received the endorsement of the Florida AFL-CIO.

Gail Gottlieb, a long-time member of the East Hillsborough County Democratic Club and a candidate for the District 59 seat of the Florida House of Representatives, has received the endorsement of the Florida AFL-CIO.

The district, currently served by Rep. Rachel Burgin, includes Brandon, Riverview and Valrico. Burgin did not seek reelection and instead ran for the state Senate. She lost to Republican Tom Lee in the Primary Election.

“Gail has demonstrated her commitment to the well-being of America’s working people throughout her career,” Mike Williams, president of the Florida AFL-CIO, said in a release. “At a time when too many Americans are unemployed, underemployed or are not earning enough to pay their bills and save for their future, Gail will be a strong advocate in Tallahassee for an economy in which workers have decent pay and benefits.”

“I am very pleased by the AFL-CIO’s endorsement because I am dedicated to bringing workers and business together in our community to build a vibrant, fair economy with a strong middle class,” Gottlieb said, also in a release. “While the private sector is the principle engine of job creation and economic growth, as a Florida state representative I will support legislative measures that promote decent pay and benefits, safe and secure work, and opportunities for advancement for all of Florida’s 9.3 million workers and all of those who seek to enter the work force.”
