What Pam Bondi, Dana Young Told 'Women for Mitt' in Brandon

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, with state Rep. Dana Young, whisked into Brandon to tell sign-toting "Women for Mitt" what she thought about the Republican National Convention in Tampa and her recent travels with presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Sign-toting, hand-clapping “Women for Mitt” members gathered Aug. 17 in the Brandon-based headquarters of the Hillsborough County Republican Party to greet Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who opened with a greeting from the  Republican presidential nominee.

“I traveled with Mitt, I was with him all day Monday, I told him I was coming today and he said to tell you all, personally to tell you all, thank you so much for what you do,” Bondi said. “Because you are the ones making the phone calls, getting out there, making a difference, and we’re so excited about the Women’s Coalition for Mitt.”

“I see the ‘Grandmothers for Romney’ sign,” Bondi said.  “I was in New Hampshire for Governor Romney a few weeks ago, on a Saturday, and they had ‘Mamma’s for Mitt.’  And boy, there’s no stopping those ladies, let me tell  you. They are fired up.”

Young had the honor of introducing Bondi to the crowd of both men and women, saying the Tampa Bay area was ready “to show this  country, and this city, that we are on the right road for women.”

“We are ready to reverse some of the negative policies that have been bad for families, bad for women, and actually go forward and create opportunity for ourselves, for our kids,” Young said. “And I can’t be more excited for Romney-Ryan to come here to our convention in two weeks.”

As for Bondi’s role in the convention, Young made her sentiments clear: “There is no person better to be our cheerleader in Florida than our attorney general, Pam Bondi.”

In an interview after the formal gathering, Bondi made it clear that she understands the importance of Florida's role in this year's bid for a Republican return to the oval office.

"Absolutely, we're a swing state," she said. "We've always been a swing state and we're going to have a red state once again."
