What Happened In Tallahassee? Bell Shoals Recap Tonight

Bell Shoals Baptist Church's Community Issues Team will host its 2013 Florida Legislative Wrap-Up Review on July 25. Lee, Spano, Raburn to attend.

In the special events center at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Sen. Tom Lee and Reps. Ross Spano and Jake Raburn will meet to discuss with voters the 2013 legislative session.

The event is presented by the Community Issues Team at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, which in major election years is the force behind the annual candidates' forum.

This is the first year the group has hosted a legislative wrap-up meeting for the general public.

"This is an off year, so we wanted to do this," said Nathalie Tomczak, a member of the Community Issues Team. "Each of our speakers will be given an opportunity to address the group and they'll be answering questions people submit as they walk in."

Tomczak said she has been a member of Bell Shoals Baptist and that the Community Issues Team was established before that.

"We primarily do a forum on election years and voter registration drives," she said. "Our aim is to keep our congregation and our community informed, so this is what that is all about."

Tomzcak said for her, it was a no-brainer to get involved with the team.

"I like to keep up with what's going on, current events," she said. "I like to be able to speak my voice and have it heard. And my Christian values, I want that to be heard, too."
