The Armwood Hawks continue their march for a state crown tonight, Nov. 23, with the second game of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoff season. The Class 6A-Region 2 face-off, in Tampa, kicks off 7:30 p.m. against perennial rivals the Hillsborough High School terriers.
Armwood faces the Terriers (9-1 overall, 5-1 in league play), ranked nationally and in the state at 427 and 31, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com.
The Hawks (8-3 overall, 5-1 in league play) are ranked 341 in the nation and 24 in the state, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com.
En route to tonight's playoff game, the Hawks this season beat Brandon, Tampa Bay Tech, Leto, Jefferson, Sickles, Strawberry Crest, King and, in playoff action Nov. 16, Largo. Losses were to American Heritage, Hillsborough and Plant (see chart below).
This will be the second time Armwood faces Hillsborough; on Oct. 18, the Terriers beat the Hawks, 3-0. Armwood followed a week later with another tough loss, a 1-point defeat to Plant (19-20).
The Nov. 23 playoff game kicks off 7:30 p.m. at Hillsborough High in Tampa, at 5000 North Central Ave.
Also in playoff action tonight are Newsome at Durant, Plant at Orlando Dr. Phillips, Lakewood at Robinson, Tampa Catholic at Clearwater Central Catholic and Carrollwood Day at Naples First Baptist.

Going into tonight's game, the Hawks in 2012, under head coach Sean Callahan, have amassed 300 points in 11 outings, averaging out to 27.3 points per game. Their closest game was the 0-3 loss against Hillsborough. The Hawks this season had shut-out victories against Brandon, Tampa Bay Tech, and Leto, amassing 134 points in those three games alone.
