"I know you will all be successful considering you have made it this far," said principal Michael Ippolito. "I hope you will continue the success you've had here at Armwood High."

It was noted that the Armwood class of 2012 garnered $5.2 million dollars in scholarship money. A staggering figure representing not only an emphasis in sports achievement but also in sound academic merit.

Valedictorian Lakirra Turner finished with a 6.8 weighted grade-point average and has already been accepted to the University of Florida. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Junior ROTC and Interact Club.

Most poignant of all her high school memories, she said, was crossing the stage for graduation.

"I'd like to recognize all of my fellow graduates who have made it this far," she said. To the students still at Armwood, she said, "Put academics first, but still have some fun."

Added Ippolito: "Aspire to be like this group of seniors."
