Brandon Ballet Stages 'Cinderella,' Auditions for Intensives

The Brandon Ballet, founded by Alice Holden Bock, announces its spring production of "Cinderella" and a three-week summer intensive program for serious ballet students.

 

The Brandon Ballet returns to the stage with "Cinderella," a full-length, classical ballet scored by Sergei Sergeyevich  Prokofiev and billed as a "comical, yet grand and beautiful ballet sure to entertain and inspire your entire family."

Founded by Alice Holden Bock, the Brandon Ballet is in residence at the Dance Center in Brandon, at 161 East Bloomingdale Ave.

The venue for the ballet is Spoto High School in Riverview, at 8538 Eagle Palm Drive, with curtain set for April 21 at 7:30 p.m.

“Cinderella,” as expectd, tells the tale of a charming princess who, while locked away in her evil stepmother's lair, dreams of finding her Prince Charming.

Tickets cost $25 for adults, $15 for children up to age 18 and $20 for seniors ages 55 and older. Purchase tickets online, at shop.brandonballet.org, or at the door. For information, call: 813-684-4282.

Meanwhile, the Brandon Ballet has announced it will accept by audition serious ballet students to its three-week summer intensive program.

The training focus will be on technique, with supplementary classes likely to include such things as pointe, pas de deux variations, men’s classes, character, jazz, modern, salsa, African and conditioning.

The program concludes with a special in-house presentation.

Dancers will be notified by mail of audition results. Male scholarships are available. Auditions for dancers age 9 and older are set for March 3. Call for specific times.

The audition fee is $25.

Tuition for Level I is $445. Level II and III is $595. A $150 deposit is due by May 1.
