Brandon Football: Eagles Away at Newsome (Oct. 5)

Game time Oct. 5 is 7:30 p.m. for the Brandon High School Eagles, who travel to Lithia to face the Newsome Wolves.

 

The Brandon High Eagles hope to snap their losing streak tonight as the Newsome Wolves look to extend theirs. The Eagles, coming off a loss to Sickles (14-37), travel to Litha tonight, Oct. 5, to face the Wolves on their home turf. (Meanwhile, the Armwood Hawks are set to play the Gryphons at home.)

Brandon faces Newsome (2-3 overall, 1-0 in league play), ranked nationally and in the state at 3,798 and 227, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com.

Newsome beat Chamberlain (31-28) on Sept. 28 and East Bay (30-22) on Sept. 22. The Wolves lost to Hillsborough (23-37) on Sept. 14, to Jefferson (37-39) on Sept. 7 and to Tampa Bay Tech (10-34) on Sept. 1.

The Eagles (0-4 overall, 0-1 in league play) are ranked 6,609 in the nation and 335 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com

Brandon's four losses were to Sickles, Durant, Freedom and Armwood (see chart below). The Eagles in preseason play beat the Blake High School Yellow Jackets.

Tonight's Oct. 5 contest against the Wolves is scheduled to kick off 7:30 p.m. at Newsome High School, 16550 FishHawk Boulevard, Lithia.
