Brandon Football: Plant Loss Extends Eagles' Winless Season

It was a somber night for the Eagles, who returned home to Brandon on Oct. 12 with their sixth loss in a winless season. Brandon bowed to the Plant Panthers, who extended their wins to five with a 55-0 shut-out victory.

The Brandon High Eagles failed to snap their losing streak in Plant on Friday night, Oct. 12, facing the Panthers on their home turf in South Tampa. (Meanwhile, the Durant Cougars remained undefeated while the Armwood Hawks took home their sixth win of the season.)

The Eagles continue their season without a win, losing their third shut-out game of the season and their second 0-55 defeat (see chart below). The Panthers scored two touchdowns in each quarter, with sophomore running back Patrick Brooks reportedly running for three. Quarterback Colby Brown, connecting with receiver Cameron Winter, accounted for the other two.

It was the third game this season the Panthers scored more than 50 points. The Panthers' sole loss this season (3-33) was to Curtis (River Ridge, LA), at the All-State Sugar Bowl Prep Classic. Plant's wins were against Jesuit (18-0), Jefferson (52-20), Tampa Bay Tech (21-14), Wharton (27-7) and Brandon (55-0).

The win makes the Panthers 5-1 for the season and 1-1 in league play. The Eagles left the field with a 0-6 record.
